NSR selects Skytale to supply encrypted communication for VARDE

The Norwegian Business and Industry Security Council (NSR) has selected Skytale to supply encrypted communication for VARDE, a new system for secure information sharing between authorities and businesses. This marks an important milestone for both Skytale and Norway’s security and preparedness community.

VARDE is designed to strengthen collaboration, situational awareness and information sharing in an increasingly complex threat environment. The system supports safe and effective communication between approved participants in the public and private sectors, based on high security, controlled access and trust.

A closed network for information sharing

VARDE is a closed ecosystem of users from Norway’s security and preparedness community. Every organisation and user granted access has signed an information-sharing declaration and been approved by NSR.

• Share sensitive information in a controlled and secure way

NSR’s preparedness centre will also publish ongoing information about threats, incidents and assessments in dedicated channels. Users can choose which information streams to subscribe to based on their relevance to their own organisation.

Several authorities have already shared sensitive information through the system, which has proved highly valuable to businesses.

At the time of writing, VARDE, with Skytale as its selected communication solution, was planned to become part of NSR’s service offering during 2026. Considerable development and collaboration were planned ahead of launch to ensure that the solution meets the needs of both authorities and businesses.
